Overview

The Mount Rinjani Trekking track on the island of Lombok is one of Indonessia’s best kept secrets. Comparable to more famous mountain tracks, Rinjani offers you adventurous awe-inspiring scenery, waterfalls, rain forests, wildlife, hot springs, caves, demanding hiking, pristine lakes, interesting culture and of course a volcano. We are the only trekking company that takes you that much further, to the summit of a truly magnificent mountain.

Famed for its tremendous beauty and eerie isolation, Mount Rinjani is Indonesia’s second highest mountain outside Irian Jaya. Although it is a dominant geographical phenomenon, its peak is rarely seen from the low lands, as it is often shrouded in cloud.

12-Week Program Overview

Outdoor Group Fitness Training – unlike other providers, we give you the opportunity to meet and train with your Australian guide prior to departure. These sessions focus on improving cardio-vascular fitness; leg, core and back strength; knee, hip and ankle stability; and general physical conditioning prior to departing. The sessions operate on alternate fortnights to the weekend walks and give your guide a great understanding of areas you may need to improve prior to departure.

Weekend Walks – Every alternate fortnight you will have the opportunity to partake in a training walk at different locations around Melbourne and Victoria. This is the best way to specifically prepare you for the walking you will encounter on the trail and test your equipment. The weekend walks are undertaken in conjunction with our ground operators No Roads Expeditions.

Your at Home Personal Trainer & Nutritionist – as part of your preperation you will be given programs to do in your own time specifically focused on the Kokoda trail and created by personal trainers and exercise physiologists who have walked it before. If you need an additonal program or have a specific need we can easily tailor one to suit your situation.

Training Diary & Nutrition Guidance – at the beginning of our journey you will recive a training diary to recored your progress over the 12-weeks along with nutrition tips from our own nutritionist. Your guide can review this and make any relevant suggestions to better prepare you for the trek.

Your Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Bali; afternoon at leisure, laze around the hotel or enjoy Bali’s fabulous shopping.
Day 02:
Bali to Lombok; 1 night at the Sheraton Sengiggi Beach. Afternoon is at leisure.
Day 03:
Transfer to Lawang (1100m) to start our climb. Trek to the rim of Rinjani, 2600m and take in the magnificent views that night..
Day 04
: Early start to get to the summit (3726m) for sunrise. Then Trek down to the crater lake (2000m). Recover and relax in the beautiful hot springs during the afternoon.
Day 05:
Trek out of the crater to Rinjani’s northern rim (2600m); continue descending into the jungle for our last camp site.
Day 06:
Conclude our trek in Senaru; transfer back to Sengiggi and celebrate with your group at our catered team celebration dinner.
Day 07:
Return to Bali; afternoon at leisure, continue your recovery with a massage.
Day 08:
Day at leisure in Bali – why not try white water rafting as one of our optional extras.
Day 09
: Morning and afternoon at leisure to shop and relax, depart Bali this evening.
